Forged from 11 salvaged railroad-style pickaxes and a blend of new and repurposed steel, Pickaxe Fish is a bold fusion of industrial relics and aquatic form. Standing with purpose and character, this sculpture transforms tools of labor into a powerful statement of reinvention.
Each pickaxe curves with intention, forming the body and spine of the fish—balanced between motion and stillness. The raw steel is finished to showcase its natural texture, with signs of past use preserved to honor its working history.
Pickaxe Fish is currently available for public viewing. The sculpture stands outdoors, pictured here prior to installation outside the artist’s shop. A behind-the-scenes video of the build captures the process from steel to sculpture.
